Blown Attic Insulation is the most basic, cost-effective way to lower your home's energy usage and improve the comfort level of your home.
Blown Attic Insulation offer these important advantages:
- Lower energy bills
- Improved indoor air quality
- Better moisture control
- Superior sound control

What is it?

Blown attic insulation or Mass attic insulation is the fluffy material on the floor of your attic. It is usually one of two main types; Fiberglass or Cellulose. Fiberglass insulation is made of tiny glass fibers as well as some other materials. Cellulose is usually comprised of small bits of newspaper or other recycled paper and treated with a flame retardant and rodent repellent.

How does insulation work?
Heat flows naturally from a warmer to a cooler space. In cold weather, it flows from heated rooms to the unheated attic, garage or to the outdoors. In hot weather, heat flows from outside your home to its interior.
To maintain comfort, the heat lost in winter must be replaced by your heating system, and the heat gained in summer must be removed by your air conditioner. Insulation resists the flow of heat, preventing unwanted circulation. Thus, in a well-insulated house, rooms stay warmer in winter, cooler in summer, with less energy expenditure.

What is the benefit of insulation?

Heating and cooling systems consume 50% to 70% of the energy used in the average American home. You will save on your energy costs if you reduce the amount of energy needed for heating and cooling. Insulation helps your home retain heat in cold weather and reject heat in warm seasons.

Doesn’t my house already have insulation?

It probably does but very likely does not have enough. The U.S. Department of Energy recommends 18” of insulation in our attics.  In much of the housing in America, attic insulation levels are inadequate at best.

That's because many home builders only offer standard (not optimal) levels of attic insulation, in order to maintain competitive selling prices. Obviously, the older the home, the less likely it is to have adequate attic insulation.

But even in a newer home, additional attic insulation will save enough money in reduced utility bills to pay for itself, and those savings will, of course, continue year after year. Upgraded attic insulation will also increase the value of your house.

Preparing the attic...

All recesses lights are protected using light dams. These are cardboard tubes that keep insulation from covering the lights, causing excessive heat buildup or damaging of the lights.

We also will remove excess debris or small objects out of the way if needed. Our install technicians will do a quick inspection of the work area to ensure that there are no hazards or objects that needed to be fixed or removed be beginning work.

We also take great care in making sure that no insulation blocks the proper airflow and ventilation in your attic. Soffit vents are secured with baffles and roofs are always inspected for proper vents.

Installation procedures:

Not all installers are created equal. We pride ourselves not only on the great products we install, but also how we install them. As part of our insulation services we provide the following steps free of charge:

1. We make sure no that insulation is blocking any vents along the side of your home. We place baffles over vents to help regulate the air-flow inside the attic as needed.

2. We check for any loose wires or cords that seem out of place. We provide markers (insulation rulers) to help you find any important wires or cables in the future.

3. Important!!! We check ALL duct work to see if it is working properly and make sure it is tightly secured to all vents, returns, and HVAC units.
